Leroy Alexander is fascinated by vintage cartoon imagery. His current paintings begin life as dot to dot tracings based on drawings taken from a Tin Tin book.
These line drawings are then painted over in watercolour producing mysterious and almost abstract images.
The work looks really intereseting and beautiful. It is lovley to see that it is led by the attendees of 19 plus - so well done to all the staff!
ReplyDelete19 plus is amazing - and I agree really impressive that the attendees themselves are given creative freedom, which is rare these days when funding so often depends on product not process and having seen these guys in action - I know the work is of a much deeper value than outer show... although the artorks themselves are beautiful. Keep up the good work all of you.
